Shielded in grand style

Like a magnificent feathered tail, the back of the Peacock chair shields its occupant from the outside world, creating the feeling of being snuggly cocooned. For both the lounge furniture and the dining furniture, the new design is available in both a clear blue and a new Scandinavian light grey colour.

Cane-line is launching the sculptural Peacock range for both lounge and dining areas. The design duo Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen MDD wanted to create a large chair with a shielding back and with space to curl your feet up under you. The lounge chair is the natural focal point of the range. Dining chairs are already part of the range.

While the dining chairs have an aluminium frame, the cocooning lounge chair has teak legs that add warmth and character to the furniture. Specially designed seat cushions underscore the reference to the peacock’s tail and make the chairs comfortable to sit in. Foersom & HiortLorenzen MDD have, as always, created a design in which the weaving method creates contrast. Two-toned weaving amplifies this effect in shades of blue or light grey.

The lounge chair has both a size and a character worthy of the space and visibility it demands. The distinctive shell that forms the back of both the lounge and dining chairs makes the furniture comfortable to sit in for long periods. Sleek by design, the dining chair goes with all the tables in the Cane-line collection and is also stackable.

Material, Maintenance & Storing

Material

Cane-line SoftTouch® is a material produced exclusively for Cane-line. SoftTouch® combines the strength of Cane-line Tex® with the comfortable softness of the Sunbrella fabric, resulting in a soft yet durable surface. Cushions made from Cane-line SoftTouch® come with a QuickDryFoam® core, ensuring maximum drainage and air circulation. This allows the cushions to dry faster after having been exposed to rain and moisture. The QuickDryFoam® core also has anti-bacterial protection, reducing the risk of mould and mildew forming inside and outside the cushion. Due to the recycled nature of this fabric, the shade may vary from lot to lot. Larger slub yarns may run sporadically throughout the fabric – due to minor variations in the granulation process. These slubs are an integrated part of this innovative fabric.

Maintenance & cleaning

Because the product is used outdoors over extended periods of time, regular cleaning with a soft brush and soapy water is important. This ensures the removal of superficial dirt and debris, such as leaves, berries, pollen and bird droppings, before they have a chance to build up and become more difficult to remove. It is important to always place your cushions in an upright position when not in use. This ensures optimum drainage, thereby minimising the risk of mould and mildew. The anti-bacterial protection in the cushion core is most effective with correct drainage of the cushions. Please note that despite the anti-bacterial protection, mildew can still form on the inner and outer covers if the cushion if not properly drained or cleaned. In case of food or drink spills, wash the spot immediately with warm soapy water and allow the cushion to dry in an upright position. Cleaning stubborn stains For stubborn stains or built-up dirt, carefully wash with a recommended stain remover, such as Vanish (Vanish Oxi Action), and/or a high-pressure cleaner at the moderate setting. It is a good idea to remove the core from the cover and wash and dry them separately. Make sure to clean both sides of the outer cover. Please note, that the cushion cover is machine washable at 30°C.

Storing

There are several ways to properly store your furniture in the autumn and winter months for maximum protection and to make spring cleaning easier.

Furniture frames

1) It is best to store furniture frames indoors.

2) Alternatively, they can be stored on a covered terrace, patio or carport, where they are protected from the elements.

3) Finally, furniture frames can be stored outdoors under a furniture cover. Please note, however, that condensation can form under the furniture cover, which can cause mould and mildew. Therefore, make sure to lift the cover away from the furniture frame to ensure proper air circulation and minimise condensation.

Furniture cushions

1) It is best to store cushions indoors in a ventilated room.

2) Alternatively, they can be stored in a cushion box on a covered terrace, patio or carport, protecting them from the elements and ensuring proper ventilation.

3) Do not store your cushions on the furniture frames as this can cause mould and mildew to form on the surface, making spring cleaning more difficult.

Prolong the moments you spend outside

New dining chairs in the Moments range make it comfortable to enjoy long evenings outside, chatting around the dining table. The chairs are an addition to the Moments lounge range, which is now being launched in modules. The modules allow you to arrange the lounge furniture according to your own needs.

Designed by Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen MDD and launched in 2017, the Moments lounge range was an instant success. The design duo has therefore expanded the range in 2018 to include lounge sofa modules, and two dining chairs in the sturdy, flexible material, Cane-line Rope. The back extends to the armrests on both models. One stands on an elegant sled base and the other on classic legs, making the chair stackable.

One of Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen’s trademarks is designs that incorporate light. In Moments, the vertical strings covered with the cane material, Cane-line Rope, make for a clean-cut, stylish look. The Moments lounge cushions are upholstered with Cane-line SoftTouch® fabric and have a QuickDryFoam® core that wicks rainwater through them, and, like Cane-line Rope, makes the furniture suitable for life outside in all weathers.
While the new dining chairs have sled base and aluminium legs, the lounge furniture has sturdy teak feet and legs covered in Cane-line Rope for a slightly softer look. The season’s new modular design allows you to arrange the lounge furniture in a variety of ways and have your outside space just as you want it.

In the 2018 season, Cane-line will be adding new designs and expanding existing ranges. The whole collection meets the growing desire for outdoor furniture that conveys “Scandinavian Living”, bringing indoor comfort outside onto terraces and balconies and into gardens.

The Nordic lifestyle rings loud and clear in the array of new products from Cane-line for the 2018 season. Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen MDD are the design duo behind the Peacock range. With their screening backs, the chairs for both dining and lounge areas make for an ambiance of comfortable grandeur. Grand proportions characterise the Mega range to an even greater degree. The range features both a lounge chair and sofa as well as a huge daybed with space for all the family. The range is designed by ByKATO, who also designed the new Level tables, which possess a simplicity and functionality conducive to personalisation of areas, indoors and out.  “The designs that 2018 has to offer might be bold, but the DNA is the same. It goes without saying that high quality and comfort as well as stylish design feature highly in all the new items,” explains Brian Djernes, CEO of Cane-line.

Simplicity allows room for manoeuvre The 2018 season also offers a new take on Cane-line classics, such as the Moments lounge, which is now available in modular form, and is joined by a dining chair in two versions. This year, the popular Diamond range will be launched in a new Nordic light grey, which conveys an exclusive look and is easy to maintain. The simple Less chair and the Pure tables will also be available in this colour. Finally, the season provides new accessories that add that final touch to the exterior design.  “This year’s common denominator is the Nordic lifestyle, which, by virtue of its simplicity, can be mixed and matched across the extensive range, where all series can be put together, regardless of colour and style,” says Brian Djernes.

The distinction between indoor and outdoor space is becoming increasingly blurred as we move lounge furniture out onto the patio and natural materials inside. The Urban sofa by byKATO, Cane-line’s new design team, is a good example. It was originally designed to stand in the living room, but after a rethink of the materials, the sofa is ready to crank up the cosiness on the terrace with its soft, inviting look. In addition to Urban, Cane-line is launching two further brand new lounge ranges, Moments and Encore, by Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen MDD. Like Urban, both are designed to match your décor, both inside and out. Additionally, the combination of new, textural materials such as wicker and cord and warm colours also narrows the contrast between indoor and outdoor design.
