Made of sustainable natural rattan, the astonishing construction is lightweight yet extremely strong. The seat cushion fabrics are available in the innovative PP selected fabric from Cane-line, which allows for easy cleaning and maintenance. The Club chair is designed by Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen, with the greatest respect for nature and traditional craftsmanship.

Rattan is the rascal of the jungle. Rattan belongs to the palm family. It is a climbing plant that grows over trees and other plants in the rainforest. There are about 600 species of rattan. Cane-line uses only the best and strongest for furniture production.
The stems are cut manually in the jungle, meaning the harvest does not damage the flora and fauna in any way. Rattan is an incredibly fast growing palm, which makes it a very sustainable material. The outer layer of rattan plant is peeled off and used for weaving.
The core of the rattan is used to make furniture, which due to its movement and flexibility enables it to create a unique and very COMFORTABLE design.

Cane-line ensures sustainability not only in relation to the environment but with the human relationship in a society which has its roots deeply embedded in rattan. All processing is conducted in accordance with the International certifications SA8000 (social responsibility) and ISO14001 (environmental management). Rattan is harvested in Sumatra and processed in Java.

Manually
The Rattan stems are cut manually in the jungle, meaning the harvest does not damage the flora and fauna in any way. For the locals, rattan is an alternative to cutting down the rainforest around them.
